Blinkit, the quick-commerce arm of Eternal, has significantly expanded its 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram from 5 vehicles in January to 12 vehicles currently. Alongside this expansion, the company has launched a dedicated in-house paramedic training programme to improve the quality and empathy of emergency medical care.
Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Eternal, shared the update on LinkedIn, highlighting that Blinkit now operates 12 ambulances across 6 depots, covering nearly half of Gurugram. “Until today, we have responded to 594 calls, 50 per cent of these critical emergencies. Today, our 12 ambulances across 6 depots reach patients within 10 minutes, 83 per cent of the time,” he noted.
At launch, the service was restricted to a small area around Golf Course Road, but has since scaled significantly in reach and impact.
Recognising the importance of compassion in emergencies, Blinkit is developing an in-house paramedic training programme. Goyal stated, “We learned how difficult it is to find and train paramedics who can deliver not just medical aid, but empathy when it matters most.”
Each ambulance is equipped with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver, and includes essential facilities such as a stretcher, wheelchair, oxygen cylinders, and critical medicines. Of the 594 total calls so far, 294 were for scheduled transfers, 225 for major medical emergencies, and 75 related to road accidents or injuries.
At the time of launch, Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, had stated, “Profit is not a goal here. We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term. We aim to carefully scale this service and make it available in all major cities over the next 2 years.”
