Bharti Airtel has set up a new subsidiary named Airtel Money Limited, as disclosed in its stock exchange filing on July 9, 2025. The entity was incorporated on July 8, 2025. It is a wholly-owned, step-down subsidiary of Bharti Airtel.
Airtel Money Limited was incorporated with an authorised share capital of ₹10,00,000 and a paid-up capital of ₹1,00,000. Airtel stated that this qualifies as a related party transaction, with shares allotted at par and on an arm’s length basis.
The Airtel Money brand was first introduced in 2012 under Airtel M Commerce Services Ltd (AMSL), another fully-owned Airtel subsidiary. It was among the early mobile-based prepaid payment services in India. Over time, these services were integrated into Airtel Payments Bank.
Airtel Money Wallet is the digital wallet product of Airtel Payments Bank. It offers services such as mobile recharges, utility bill payments, and other digital transactions. Reports suggest that the wallet can be used for both online and offline payments via mobile devices.
The update builds on Airtel and Ericsson’s earlier agreement related to a dual-mode 5G Core solution. This is intended to support the shift to a 5G Standalone (SA) network. Ericsson has been working with Airtel for over 25 years and was awarded its first 5G contract in India.
Separately, Bharti Airtel also shared an update on its ongoing partnership with Ericsson. A new agreement has been signed to expand Airtel’s Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network capabilities. Ericsson will deploy a next-generation core platform as part of the deal.
