Amazon India has launched an at-home diagnostics service under its healthcare vertical. The service is currently available in Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. It covers over 450 PIN codes, as per the reports .

Sample Collection

The diagnostics offering allows users to book lab tests through the Amazon app. Customers can schedule home sample collections within 60 minutes. For routine tests, digital reports are delivered in less than 6 hours. The service provides access to over 800 diagnostic tests.

Partnership with Orange Health Labs

Amazon has partnered with Orange Health Labs for this rollout. The Bengaluru-based company is a diagnostics provider offering NABL-accredited services. Amazon’s Smbhav Venture Fund had previously led a $12 million funding round in Orange Health Labs in December 2024. The startup was founded in 2020 and has raised over $50 million so far.

Amazon Medical Expansion

This diagnostics initiative adds to Amazon India’s healthcare services. Amazon Medical already includes an online pharmacy and doctor consultation platform. The pharmacy arm, launched 2 years ago, provides same-day medicine delivery in 23 cities. Amazon Clinic enables users to consult registered doctors for various health needs through the app.

Industry Context

India’s diagnostics sector is valued at around $15 billion as of 2024. Reports suggest that it is growing at an estimated annual rate of 15%, fuelled by increased demand for faster services and digital healthcare access. Companies already active in this space include Tata 1mg, Thyrocare (owned by PharmEasy), Apollo Diagnostics, Dr Lal Path Labs, and Redcliffe Labs, among others.

Conclusion

With this step, Amazon is adding diagnostics to its existing health services infrastructure in India. The company’s entry into at-home lab testing expands its reach in the healthcare sector, focusing on faster sample collection and digital report delivery across urban centres.
