Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) reported operational performance for May 2025, handling an all-time high monthly cargo volume of 41.8 million metric tonnes (MMT), reflecting a 17% year-on-year (YoY) growth.
The surge was driven primarily by container volumes, which grew 22% YoY, and dry cargo, which saw a 17% YoY increase.
For the year-to-date (YTD) period ending May 2025, APSEZ has handled a total of 79.3 MMT of cargo, marking a 10% YoY growth. Container traffic remained the key driver, registering a 21% YoY increase, underscoring strong trade activity and continued recovery in global shipping dynamics.
In May 2025, APSEZ’s logistics rail volumes reached 0.06 million twenty-foot equivalent units (Mn TEUs), up 13% YoY, reflecting continued expansion in integrated logistics operations. GPWIS (General Purpose Wagon Investment Scheme) volumes for the month stood at 2.01 MMT, posting a modest 4% YoY rise.
YTD logistics rail volumes totalled 0.12 Mn TEUs (+15% YoY), while GPWIS cargo volumes reached 3.8 MMT, also growing 4% YoY. These figures highlight the company's continued emphasis on building end-to-end logistics capabilities.
