Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), India’s largest private transmission and distribution company, has secured a ₹1,660 crore inter-state transmission project in Maharashtra. The project aims to evacuate 1.5 GW of green energy from the Raigad region, specifically from upcoming hydro Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs), to meet electricity demands in Mumbai and nearby areas.
AESL will develop 3,000 Mega Volt-Amperes (MVA) of substation capacity along with other supporting infrastructure. Once complete, this will raise AESL’s total transmission network to 26,696 circuit kilometers (ckm) and 93,236 MVA in transformation capacity. The project is scheduled to be completed by January 2028.
This project will be executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission Ltd, which has been officially transferred to AESL. The project was awarded under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) system, with REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) serving as the bidding coordinator.
With this win, AESL’s total transmission orderbook has reached approximately ₹61,600 crore. The project further solidifies AESL’s leadership in India’s private power transmission sector.
Adani Energy Solutions is active in power transmission, distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. It currently provides electricity to around 13 million consumers in Mumbai and Mundra SEZ. The company is rapidly expanding its smart metering services and aims to become a key player in this space.
