Overview of the global automotive software market

The global automotive software market was valued at $18.5 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach $43.5 billion by 2027 at a CAGR of 14.5% between 2020 and 2027.

Automotive software used by vehicle manufactures targets to complete in-car applications through an onboard computer for enhancing the driving experience. It includes a suite of various operations including, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), communication and infotainment systems, telematics, safety measurements, etc.

Since the hurdles of developing adequate software are challenging for carmakers, technological start-ups and giants have provided these solutions. To give an example, General Motors acquired Cruise Automation in 2016 for $1 billion. Collaborations and acquisitions of this sort will provide technological support to carmakers.

Wipro’s recent partnership is a significant step in this steeply growing market of vehicle automation.
