Despite a positive start to the trading session, the Indian frontline indices experienced a notable downturn, relinquishing their initial gains. IT, power, utilities, and capital goods sectors bore the brunt of this sharper decline, while the energy, auto and metals sectors were relatively less affected by the market movement.

At 10:25 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.11%, reaching a level of 72,222. The Nifty 50 index declined 0.29% to the 21,887 level. On the Sensex, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki were among the top gainers, whereas Power Grid Corporation of India, Axis Bank and Hindustan Unilever Ltd were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows: 

  • Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd

    Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd witnessed a substantial 68-fold surge in trading volume, leading to a slight rise as its shares reached an intraday high of Rs 1,689.70 per share on the BSE. It is known for its diverse array of financial services, encompassing retail banking, treasury and corporate banking, investment banking, stock broking, vehicle finance, advisory services, asset management, life insurance, and general insurance.

  • Vipul Ltd

    Vipul Ltd saw a remarkable 30-fold increase in trading volume, causing its shares to be locked at the 5% upper circuit, reaching a 52-week high of Rs 29.52 per share on the BSE. The company specializes in real estate development, offering a diverse portfolio that includes residential, commercial, retail, integrated townships, and lifestyle gated communities, often developed in collaboration with contractors and consultants.

  • Jaiprakash Associates Ltd

    Jaiprakash Associates Ltd observed a notable surge in trading volume and persisted in being locked at the lower circuit. Consequently, the shares witnessed a decline of more than 22% over the week. The company operates primarily in the construction sector, with activities spanning engineering & construction, cement manufacturing, power generation, real estate development, and hotel/hospitality services.
