India’s homegrown beauty brand, Colorbar Cosmetics, is preparing to go public in early 2027. The company, which has been in business for two decades, is set to double its revenue this financial year. As per news reports, the company will be focusing on upgrading its products, packaging, and store network to drive growth.
While many Indian consumers are cutting back on spending due to high living costs, premium brands like Colorbar continue to do well. Their target audience—wealthier Indians—are still spending on luxury and comfort.
Colorbar expects to cross ₹1,000 crore (₹10 billion or US$117 million) in revenue in the financial year starting April 2025. This growth comes from the launch of new products, improved packaging, and the opening of more stores.
Colorbar is currently valued between ₹2,500 crore and ₹3,500 crore. The company plans to use the money raised from the IPO to strengthen its skincare and fragrance categories and also explore acquisitions—possibly including international brands.
Despite tough competition from both Indian startups like Sugar Cosmetics and MyGlamm and global giants like MAC and Bobbi Brown, Colorbar has managed to stay steady. The brand roughly broke even last year.
Currently, Colorbar has over 100 exclusive outlets and is available at more than 1,200 multi-brand stores such as Shoppers Stop and Lifestyle. It plans to open 15–20 more stores this financial year to reach more customers.
While most of its revenue still comes from India, Colorbar has global ambitions. The company expects 25% of its revenue to come from exports over the next 5 years, especially through expansion in the United States and the Middle East.
With strong plans for growth and a focus on innovation, Colorbar is positioning itself as a serious player in India’s growing beauty market. Its upcoming IPO in 2027 will be one to watch, especially as the brand looks to go global while strengthening its presence at home.
