Vi (Vodafone Idea) has officially launched its 5G services in Bengaluru, starting from tomorrow. With this move, residents and businesses in India’s tech hub can now benefit from faster internet speeds, reduced latency, and improved connectivity through the Vi 5G network.
The Bengaluru launch follows Vi’s recent 5G rollouts in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, and Chandigarh. This phased expansion is part of Vi’s broader plan to introduce 5G services across all 17 priority circles where it has acquired spectrum, with full rollout expected by August 2025.
Anand Dani, Business Head – Karnataka, Vodafone Idea, expressed excitement about the launch, calling Bengaluru a city "at the forefront of tech and digital innovation." He emphasized Vi’s goal to provide a next-generation digital experience and its commitment to expanding 5G coverage in line with rising demand and 5G handset penetration.
To deliver a superior 5G experience, Vi has partnered with Samsung to deploy AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) aimed at optimising network performance. This includes integrating energy-efficient, multi-technology radios to enhance 5G service quality in the city.
In addition to 5G, Vi has strengthened its 4G network in Karnataka by upgrading infrastructure across 3,000 sites. The enhancements include doubling 900 MHz coverage, expanding 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz capacity, and adding 2300 MHz spectrum in over 1,000 locations. These efforts are designed to support both high-speed internet and seamless 5G transition.
On June 11, 2025, Vodafone Idea share price (NSE: IDEA) opened at ₹6.96, almost the same as its previous close of ₹6.97. At 9:35 AM, the share price of Vodafone Idea was trading at ₹7.10, up by 1.87% on the NSE.
