On Thursday, the benchmark indices were trading lower with the Sensex down around 98 points or 0.15% at 66,377 and the Nifty-50 down around 25 points or 0.15% at 19,787. About 2,109 shares have advanced, 1,185 declined, and 168 are unchanged on the BSE.
The top Sensex gainers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, JSW Steel Ltd and NTPC Ltd whereas the top Sensex losers were Tech Mahindra Ltd, Infosys Ltd and Nestle India Ltd.
The BSE Metals Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Teck Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Metals Index soared 1.35% led by National Aluminium Co. Ltd and Coal India Ltd while the BSE Teck Index was down 0.80% dragged down by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and Tech Mahindra Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading higher, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.40% and the BSE Small-cap index up 0.58%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were NMDC Ltd and Max Healthcare Institute Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were MMTC Ltd and Dredging Corporation of India Ltd.
