Indian equity benchmarks witnessed a volatile trading session on Monday, initially declining due to Kotak Mahindra Bank’s weak earnings and lingering concerns over US trade negotiations. However, markets recovered later in the day as investor sentiment improved and buying interest returned.

1. Shriram Finance

Shriram Finance surged 2.62%, closing at ₹632.00 after hitting an intraday high of ₹638.85. The stock saw strong trading activity, with 1.15 crore shares traded, amounting to a turnover of ₹72,965.26 lakh.

2. Cipla

Cipla gained 2.45%, settling at ₹1,570.00. The stock opened at ₹1,541.20 and touched a high of ₹1,577.00. Around 38.4 lakh shares were traded, with a total value of ₹59,853.28 lakh.

3. Hero MotoCorp

Hero MotoCorp rose 1.45%, closing at ₹4,292.00 after reaching a high of ₹4,307.00. Total traded volume stood at 4.6 lakh shares, generating a value of ₹19,813.11 lakh.

4. Asian Paints

Asian Paints ended 1.00% higher at ₹2,359.50. The stock traded between ₹2,320.00 and ₹2,366.40, with 6.5 lakh shares exchanged, totalling ₹15,289.04 lakh.

5. Hindustan Unilever (HUL)

HUL added 0.98%, closing at ₹2,439.00. The FMCG major witnessed a volume of 9.8 lakh shares, with turnover amounting to ₹24,046.17 lakh.

1. Kotak Mahindra Bank

Kotak Bank was the top loser, slumping 7.34% to ₹1,968.70. The stock hit a low of ₹1,960.00 during the day. Over 1.38 crore shares were traded, with a value of ₹2,74,718.04 lakh.

2. Bajaj Finance

Bajaj Finance fell 3.58%, ending at ₹881.00. It traded between ₹879.00 and ₹913.75. The counter saw 1.40 crore shares traded, worth ₹1,25,212.05 lakh.

3. IndusInd Bank

IndusInd Bank declined 2.93%, closing at ₹799.60. The stock hit a low of ₹798.00 and registered a total turnover of ₹48,272.41 lakh on a volume of 59.2 lakh shares.

4. Bharti Airtel

Bharti Airtel dropped 2.48% to ₹1,889.90. The stock remained under pressure throughout the session with 35.7 lakh shares changing hands, totaling ₹67,892.81 lakh.

5. Titan Company

Titan lost 2.25%, finishing at ₹3,385.00. It traded between ₹3,382.00 and ₹3,462.60. Trading volume stood at 6 lakh shares, valued at ₹20,578.99 lakh.

Conclusion

Indian equities ended on a weak note on July 28, 2025, dragged by banking and financial stocks. While select FMCG and pharma names provided some support, the broader market remained under pressure.
