Swiggy has introduced a dedicated High Protein section on its app, as per the reports. The feature is now live across 30 Indian cities and includes over 5 lakh dishes from 35,000+ restaurant partners. Major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru are part of the rollout.
Every dish listed in this section must meet specific nutritional requirements. The criteria include a minimum of 15 grams of protein per serving, a maximum of 700 kilocalories, and at least 10% of total calories coming from protein.
Users can access the section by searching for terms like “protein” or “diet” on the app. Within the section, they can view dishes grouped by protein content. Filters are also available based on the type of protein used, such as paneer or soya.
Swiggy stated that over 1.8 million users explored the High Protein section during its pilot phase. Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi saw the highest volume of orders. Other cities like Chandigarh also saw significant usage.
A report by IMRB found that 73% of Indians do not meet their daily protein requirement. Another study involving IFPRI and CESS highlighted that more than two-thirds of households in semi-arid regions of India consume less protein than recommended.
The company has also introduced other features recently. Earlier this month, it launched the ₹99 Store in 175 cities. It also announced ESOP grants worth approximately ₹150 crore and noted increased usage of its Food on Train service during the summer travel period.

The High Protein section adds to Swiggy’s existing food discovery tools. By providing a structured way to browse protein-rich dishes, the new category targets users with specific nutritional preferences across multiple Indian cities.
