In a notable development for India’s deeptech ecosystem, Netrasemi, a Kerala-based semiconductor startup, has raised ₹107 crore in its latest funding round. The capital infusion came from Zoho Corporation and existing investor Unicorn India Ventures, as per The Economic Times report.

Kerala’s Semiconductor Startup Netrasemi Secures Major Funding Round

Founded in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma, and Deepa Geetha, Netrasemi focuses on edge artificial intelligence (AI) an emerging domain that enables AI-powered computing directly on devices, reducing reliance on cloud infrastructure.

The startup is currently developing system-on-chip (SoC) architectures to power IoT-enabled solutions across sectors such as surveillance, robotics, and smart infrastructure.

Building Edge AI for the Future

Edge AI is gaining traction as demand grows for faster, low-latency computing in devices without constant cloud connectivity. Netrasemi aims to bridge this gap with its proprietary SoC designs, enabling real-time data processing on devices like sensors, cameras, and automation systems.

The company is currently in the prototyping and R&D phase and is targeting an official product launch by early 2026.

Prior Funding and Institutional Support

Before this round, Netrasemi had raised ₹18.3 crore from early backers including Medimicrochip Labs, IIM Kozhikode, and Unicorn India Ventures, as per data from Tracxn. The new funding is expected to strengthen R&D infrastructure and scale up manufacturing capabilities, particularly at its facility in Kerala.

Strategic Alignment with Zoho

The investment also reflects Zoho’s growing interest in India's deeptech and hardware ecosystem. Commenting on the deal, Shailesh Davey, Co-founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation, highlighted the alignment between both companies’ focus on R&D-driven innovation in AI, robotics, and edge computing.

Conclusion

Netrasemi’s latest funding round underlines investor confidence in India’s evolving semiconductor and edge AI landscape. With growing global interest in on-device AI and decentralised computing, the startup is well-positioned to play a significant role in shaping the next generation of intelligent hardware solutions.
