Marking a major milestone for the Indian edtech sector, PhysicsWallah has become the first company in the space to receive approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to launch an initial public offering (IPO). The announcement came through an update from the markets regulator on Thursday, where a total of seven companies were cleared for a public listing.
According to SEBI's latest update, PhysicsWallah, along with 6 other firms: Vinir Engineering, Pranav Constructions, Fujiyama Power Systems, Saatvik Green Energy, SIS Cash Services, and Anlon Healthcare, has received the go-ahead to proceed with its public issue. These approvals are part of the regulator's observations made between July 14 and 18.
All of these companies had submitted their draft red herring prospectuses (DRHPs) between January and April 2025. In SEBI's terminology, the issuance of its "observations" signifies official approval for launching an IPO.
A Mixed Bag of IPO Developments, While 7 companies moved forward with their IPO plans, the update also revealed that Gaudium IVF and Women's Health, which had filed its IPO documents in January, has chosen to withdraw its draft papers. No specific reasons for the withdrawal were mentioned in the update.
