In a significant step towards bolstering India’s power transmission capacity, PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), has incorporated a new Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Kurnool IV REZ Power Transmission Limited. This move is part of the company's broader mission to streamline the development of vital transmission systems in accordance with government directives and competitive bidding norms.

Formation of SPV to Execute Key Power Project

The Ministry of Power appointed PFCCL as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) to oversee the selection of a Transmission Service Provider (TSP). The newly formed SPV, Kurnool IV REZ Power Transmission Limited, will spearhead the development of the “Transmission System for Kurnool-IV REZ - Phase-II (3 GW)”. PFCCL, as the BPC, will ensure preparation of the project profile and initiation of critical processes, including land acquisition and forest clearance, where applicable.

SPV to be Transferred Post Bidding Process

Following the guidelines of Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding for Transmission Service, the SPV will be responsible for executing preparatory work such as survey activities, documentation, and regulatory clearances. Upon completion of the bidding process, the SPV will be transferred to the successful bidder through international competitive bidding. The selected entity will then take charge of the complete development of the transmission project.

This strategic move ensures regulatory compliance, transparency, and efficiency in the implementation of large-scale power projects.
