Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended March 31, 2025.
On a standalone basis, the company posted a net profit of ₹6,448 crore in Q4 FY25, down 34.7% year-on-year. For the full fiscal year, ONGC’s net profit stood at ₹35,610 crore, marking a 12.1% decline from ₹40,526 crore in FY24. Standalone gross revenue was ₹1,37,846 crore, nearly flat compared to the previous year.
On a consolidated basis, the net profit for FY25 stood at ₹38,329 crore, down 30.7% from ₹55,273 crore in FY24. The consolidated gross revenue rose slightly by 1.5% year-on-year to ₹6,63,262 crore.
ONGC’s Board has recommended a final dividend of ₹1.25 per share (25%), bringing the total dividend payout for FY25 to ₹15,411 crore, the highest ever for the company. This includes an interim dividend of ₹11 per share (220%) paid earlier in the year, taking the total dividend to ₹12.25 per share (245%) on a face value of ₹5 each.
In terms of production, standalone crude oil output increased by 0.9% year-on-year to 18.558 million metric tonnes (MMT) in FY25. However, natural gas production dipped slightly to 19.654 billion cubic metres (BCM) from 19.978 BCM in FY24.
ONGC reported a total capital expenditure of ~₹62,000 crore in FY25. Of this, ₹10,300 crore was directed towards exploration, reflecting a 25% increase over the previous fiscal. The company drilled 578 wells in FY25, the highest in the past 35 years, and achieved nine discoveries, eight of which have already been monetised.
On May 21, 2025, ONGC share price opened at ₹251.50 and closed at ₹248.99, down by 0.11%. The stock price touched its day’s low at ₹247.76.

Despite facing a drop in profit, ONGC continued to deliver value to shareholders through record dividend payouts and steady crude production. With enhanced exploration efforts and operational milestones, the company remains focused on strengthening its upstream performance in the years ahead.
