It includes 100 actively traded stocks listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). As of March 28, 2025, this index represents about 4.77% of the total free-float market capitalisation of all NSE-listed companies. The index serves as a benchmark for small-cap mutual funds and is also used for launching ETFs and other structured products.
As of June 9, 2025, 11:37 AM, the Nifty Smallcap 100 stood at 18,827.35, marking a gain of 244.90 points or 1.32%. Over the last 6 months (ending March 2025), stocks in this index accounted for 12.38% of the total traded value on the NSE.
The index uses the free-float market capitalisation method, meaning only shares available for public trading are considered in its calculation. It is rebalanced semi-annually, and returns are tracked in both Price Return and Total Return formats.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 Index showcases a well-diversified sector allocation, with the largest exposure to financial services at 25.53%, followed by capital goods (11.17%), healthcare (8.77%), chemicals (8.09%), and construction (5.91%).
Other notable sectors include information technology (5.80%), consumer durables (5.42%), and services (5.59%). Smaller contributions come from sectors such as oil & gas, FMCG, real estate, power, telecom, and automobiles, adding further diversity to the index.

Among the top constituents by weight, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. leads with a weight of 3.31%, followed by Central Depository Services (India) Ltd. at 2.68%, and Laurus Labs Ltd. at 2.35%.
Other significant companies include Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (2.23%), Radico Khaitan Ltd. (1.95%), Computer Age Management Services Ltd. (1.87%), Delhivery Ltd. (1.81%), Angel One Ltd. (1.73%), Karur Vysya Bank Ltd. (1.71%), and PNB Housing Finance Ltd. (1.65%).
In terms of returns, the index has delivered a quarter-to-date (QTD) gain of 11.16%, while the year-to-date (YTD) performance stands at -4.56%. Over the past 1 year, it has generated a return of 7.89%, with a robust 5-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.76%. Since its inception in March 2011, the index has surged by 36.01%.
