Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company (Kotak Life) has announced a bonus of ₹1,178 crore for the financial year 2024–25. This will benefit more than 7 lakh policyholders holding participating insurance policies.
This marks the 24th consecutive year the company has declared a bonus on its participating products, showcasing its consistent performance and commitment to long-term value creation for its policyholders. The latest bonus figure also reflects a 17% rise compared to the previous financial year.
Participating policies are traditional life insurance plans where policyholders are entitled to share in the insurer’s profits. Bonuses are drawn from the surplus generated by the insurer’s participating fund and are typically disbursed upon maturity or policy exit, based on the terms of the policy.
Earlier this month, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance declared an annual bonus of ₹1,833 crore for FY25, a 32% increase from ₹1,383 crore last year. The payout is expected to benefit more than 11.7 lakh policyholders who hold traditional participating policies in force as of 31 March 2025. In addition, the company announced a special reversionary bonus of ₹206 crore for select equity-linked participating plans.
These declarations reflect the insurer's commitment to rewarding policyholders and maintaining the strength of its participating fund. Such consistent and enhanced bonuses are seen as a sign of stability and financial prudence in the insurance industry.
