Infosys has submitted a fresh court filing in the US, accusing Cognizant of hiring away critical employees involved in the development of its healthcare platform, Helix. The complaint, dated June 13, 2025, specifically names 2 Cognizant leaders, Chief People Officer Kathryn Diaz and Americas President Surya Gummadi, for their alleged involvement in the hiring process, as per the Business Standard report.

Background of the Dispute

The issue ties back to earlier claims from January 2025, when Infosys accused Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S of delaying Helix’s rollout while he was still at Infosys. Kumar had led the Helix project before exiting Infosys in October 2022. He joined Cognizant as CEO in January 2023.

Key Hires Under Scrutiny

Infosys claims Cognizant later hired 2 senior executives from its Helix team. Shveta Arora, who worked closely on the platform, joined Cognizant in December 2023 as head of consulting. Another former Infosys executive, Ravi Kuchibhotla, came on board as chief strategy officer in August 2024.

Cognizant Responds and Reiterates Countersuit

Cognizant has denied the allegations, stating that Diaz was appointed after Kumar and dismissing the claims as misleading. The company also restated its own accusation that Infosys had previously misused trade secrets related to its healthcare IT product, TriZetto, a direct competitor to Helix.

The legal battle between the 2 IT firms began in 2024 and has since included charges related to intellectual property and talent movement. Infosys, in its latest filing, said the hiring activity was a deliberate attempt to interfere with Helix’s progress and demanded access to documents held by Diaz and Gummadi.
