At the Google I/O 2025 event on May 20, Google made major announcements that clearly showed its strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI). The main highlight was the deeper integration of Gemini, Google’s family of AI models, across its entire product ecosystem.

Alphabet Share Price Sees Mild Dip Despite Big Announcements 

Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) stock closed at US$163.98 on May 20, showing a weekly gain of 2.26%. However, it dropped 1.54% from the previous day's close of US$166.54. After hours, it recovered slightly to US$164.27. The stock's movement reflects investor caution even after Google’s ambitious AI reveals.

Gemini: Your All-in-One AI Assistant

The Gemini app now has over 400 million monthly active users. It offers features like Gemini Live, which can use your phone camera to help in real-time, and tools like Imagen 4 for images and Veo 3 for videos. Gemini is also now integrated with Chrome and Android devices.

Google introduced two paid plans:

  • Google AI Pro (US$19.99/month) for regular users
  • Google AI Ultra (US$249.99/month) for power users and developers. 

Students in selected countries can get AI Pro for free for a year.

AI Upgrades in Google Search

Search now has an AI mode powered by Gemini 2.5, capable of answering complex questions, identifying images, and allowing follow-ups. Features like Deep Search and Search Live make interactions more helpful and accurate.

Exciting AI Tools for Professionals

  1. Google Beam: A new 3D video communication tool for remote meetings, made in partnership with HP and Zoom.
  2. Flow: An AI-powered video editing and filmmaking platform.
  3. Jules: A smart coding assistant that can write, test, and fix code using Gemini.
  4. Stitch: A design-to-code tool for building apps quickly using simple prompts and images.

Next-Gen Experiences with Android XR

Google is also launching Android XR with Samsung and Qualcomm. It brings smart glasses and headsets that understand what users see and hear. These devices will support live translation, navigation, and more.
