On June 9, 2025, Indian stock markets are likely to open on a positive note, taking cues from early gains in Gift Nifty and supportive global signals. Investors will be closely watching the resumption of US-China trade talks and upcoming inflation data from both India and the US, which could influence central bank policies.
Asian markets were mostly higher in early Monday trading, following a strong performance on Wall Street last Friday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.95%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gained 0.83%, and South Korea’s Kospi jumped nearly 2%. However, China’s CSI 300 index remained flat, suggesting some restraint among mainland traders.
US equity markets surged on Friday as the non-farm payrolls for May came in stronger than expected. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 1.05%, the S&P 500 gained 1.03% to close at 6,000.36 reclaiming the key 6,000 level for the first time since February and the Nasdaq Composite rallied 1.20%. The US added 139,000 jobs in May, exceeding estimates of 125,000.
On Friday, Indian benchmarks posted solid gains after the RBI surprised with a larger-than-expected interest rate cut and a record CRR reduction, aimed at boosting economic growth. The BSE Sensex rose 746.95 points (0.92%) to 82,188.99, while the NSE Nifty 50 jumped 252.15 points (1.02%) to 25,003.05. The liquidity-boosting measures raised hopes of improved credit flow.
Market participants are also watching today’s high-stakes US-China trade talks in London. The discussions resume after a temporary Geneva agreement was marred by mutual accusations of non-compliance.

With Gift Nifty indicating a positive start, strong global cues, and supportive central bank actions, Indian markets may open on a firm footing. However, investors should remain cautious amid key global events like the US-China trade talks and upcoming inflation data that could sway sentiment in the days ahead.
