On Monday, June 02, 2025, Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a flat note, weighed down by weak global cues. Asian markets were trading in the red.
At 08:16 AM, the Gift Nifty is hovering around the 24,844.5 level, about 7.5 points higher the Gift Nifty futures’ previous close.
Asia-Pacific markets were trading lower on Monday morning after former US President Donald Trump announced plans to double tariffs on steel imports to 50%, effective Wednesday, during a speech to American steelworkers.
Futures linked to major US indices were trading in the red. S&P 500 futures fell 0.3%, Nasdaq-100 futures were also down, and Dow Jones futures dropped 108 points, or 0.3%.

On Friday, domestic equity benchmarks ended in the red, with the Nifty 50 slipping below the 24,800 mark. The Sensex dropped 182.01 points (0.22%) to close at 81,451.01, while the Nifty 50 fell 82.90 points (0.33%) to settle at 24,750.70.
