The domestic equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50, are likely to open flat on Thursday, influenced by mixed global market trends.

Asian markets showed a mixed performance, while US stock indices ended mostly higher, with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 both reaching new record closing highs.

On Wednesday, Indian stocks ended in the red, primarily due to profit-taking in select heavyweight stocks. The Sensex dropped by 287.60 points (0.34%), closing at 83,409.69, and the Nifty 50 fell by 88.40 points (0.35%) to end at 25,453.40.

Futures for Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index pointed to a lower opening.

US Market Highlights

US stock markets ended mostly higher on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq hitting new all-time highs, driven by a surge in tech stocks and optimism around the US-Vietnam trade deal.
