At 08:04 AM, the Gift Nifty is at the 24,725.0 level, about 60 points (0.25%) higher the Gift Nifty futures’ previous close, suggesting a positive start for Indian equities.

Asia

Asian markets opened on a positive note Wednesday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 0.83%, with the Topix index rising 0.47%. South Korea’s Kospi surged 1.57% to a 10-month high, while the Kosdaq gained 1.06%. However, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index signalled a subdued start.

Wall Street Overview

The US stock market closed higher on Tuesday, boosted by strong gains in technology shares and optimism surrounding trade negotiations between the US and its global partners.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 214.16 points (0.51%) to 42,519.64, the S&P 500 advanced 34.43 points (0.58%) to 5,970.37, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 156.34 points (0.81%) to end at 19,398.96.

FIIs Turn Sellers While DIIs Drive Buying Momentum

On June 3, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers, offloading shares worth ₹2,853.83 crore, as per provisional NSE data. In contrast, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net buyers, investing ₹5,907.97 crore in equities.

Tuesday Market Recap

On Tuesday, Indian equities closed significantly lower as worries over stretched valuations and foreign fund outflows weighed on investor sentiment. The Sensex fell by 636.24 points (0.78%) to end at 80,737.51, while the Nifty 50 declined 174.10 points (0.70%) to settle at 24,542.50.
