The Ministry of Defence has approved 10 capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹1.05 lakh crore. All the proposals will be executed through Indian companies under the ‘Buy (Indian – IDDM)’ category, which includes indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured systems.
The proposals were cleared by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on July 3, 2025. The approvals fall under the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) process required before formal procurement.
The list of approved items includes Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARVs) to support armoured units in battlefield recovery and maintenance. Electronic Warfare Systems (EWS) have also been approved for enhanced electronic surveillance and defence readiness.
An Integrated Common Inventory Management System has been cleared for the Tri-Services to streamline logistics and inventory handling. Surface-to-Air Missiles are included to support air defence operations.
For maritime security, the DAC has approved the purchase of Moored Mines for static defence purposes. Mine Counter Measure Vessels (MCMVs) are intended to support mine detection and clearance operations in Indian waters.
The proposals also include Super Rapid Gun Mounts (SRGMs) to boost naval firepower. Submersible Autonomous Vessels have been approved to support unmanned underwater operations and reconnaissance tasks.
All proposals fall under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, in alignment with the government’s policy to prioritise domestic defence production. The procurement process will involve Indian companies with indigenous development and manufacturing capabilities.

The new approvals are part of efforts to source defence equipment domestically, covering land, air, and naval systems, and continue a broader trend in recent procurement decisions.
