In a significant milestone for ACME Solar Holdings, the company has emerged as the successful bidder for NHPC’s tender to develop standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Andhra Pradesh.
The awarded project is part of a tender floated by NHPC for BESS capacity allocation. With a cumulative size of 275 MW and a storage capacity of 550 MWh, the project represents a crucial shift for ACME Solar into grid-scale energy storage solutions.
The winning bids were for the Kuppam and Ghani projects. Here are the details of the 2 projects:
These projects will require system availability for 2 full operational cycles of 2 hours each every day, further strengthening ACME Solar’s position in energy storage.
As part of the project, ACME Solar will receive viability gap funding (VGF) of ₹27 lakh per MWh or 30% of the total project cost, whichever is lower. This financial support will enhance the company's ability to implement these large-scale storage systems efficiently and cost-effectively.
This achievement marks the beginning of ACME Solar's foray into standalone BESS projects, complementing its existing range of solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy solutions. The company's commitment to clean energy solutions aligns with its vision to increase India's grid reliability and contribute to the nation’s renewable energy transition.
In an exchange filing, Mr. Rahula Kashyapa, Chief Commercial Officer of ACME Solar, expressed his excitement, saying, "We feel privileged for the opportunity to develop NHPC’s standalone BESS project in Andhra Pradesh. This milestone reflects ACME Solar’s commitment to pioneering innovative clean energy solutions that strengthen India’s grid reliability and accelerate the nation’s renewable energy transition."
