Launched on July 1, 2025, the Special Campaign 2.0 by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare aims to improve the ease of living for family pensioners and super senior pensioners through swift redressal of long-pending grievances. The campaign is active throughout July and has already shown significant progress in its first week.

Over 1,400 Pension Grievances Resolved in a Week

As of July 7, 2025, a total of 1,451 out of 2,210 grievances identified across 51 Ministries and Departments have been resolved. These grievances relate to pensioners from sectors including Defence, Railways, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The pending cases now stand at 759. This milestone demonstrates a significant effort to address concerns that, in many cases, had been unresolved for years.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, officially launched the campaign on July 2, 2025. The pre-campaign phase helped identify and collate grievances to enable faster resolutions once the initiative began.

Stakeholder Coordination and Active Monitoring

The success of Special Campaign 2.0 is driven by the joint participation of key stakeholders, including Ministries, Pay and Accounts Offices, the Central Pension Accounting Office, pension-disbursing banks, and Pensioners’ Welfare Associations. The Department of Pension is closely monitoring the process to ensure that all remaining cases are handled with both speed and quality.

Enhancing Ease of Living for Vulnerable Pensioners

The campaign focuses on bringing administrative relief to super senior citizens and family pensioners, many of whom face difficulties due to bureaucratic delays. By targeting this segment, the initiative aligns with the broader objective of making governance more citizen-centric and responsive, particularly for vulnerable groups.

Conclusion

With 1,451 cases already addressed in just one week, Special Campaign 2.0 is proving effective in resolving long-standing pension grievances. Continued collaboration among departments promises even greater relief for pensioners by the end of July 2025.
