The domestic indices experienced a significant downturn, primarily influenced by losses in the telecommunication, utilities, oil & gas, and financial services sectors. While the majority of sectors faced notable declines, IT, metals and capital goods emerged as the only sectors making gains. Broader indices followed suit, aligning with the main indices’ downward trajectory.

At 10:10 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.57%, reaching a level of 72,210. The Nifty 50 index tumbled 0.54% to the 21,935 level. On the Sensex, Axis Bank, HCL Technologies and Tata Steel were among the top gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Power Grid Corporation of India, and Asian Paints were among the market draggers.
