On April 3, 2024, Bharti Airtel informed in a stock exchange filing that the company expanded its network footprint in Vadodara District under its rural network expansion project.

Details of the Expansion in Vadodara

On Wednesday, Bharti Airtel deployed additional sites in Vadodara district to densify its network. The company stated that the network expansion project in Vadodara was undertaken across 320 villages covering a 4.25 lakh population base. Customers in the tehsils of Vadodara, Padra, Savli, Karjan and Vaghodia under the Vadodara district will benefit directly from this network expansion.

Bharti Airtel said the expansion will facilitate seamless access to high-speed connectivity that will ensure a reliable mobile network for study, entertainment and work in rural parts of Vadodara. In 2024 alone, Airtel has doubled down on its commitment to the state and has invested additional capex to improve its network connectivity for seamless experience on 4G, 5G, Broadband and Fiber.

To expand coverage in rural villages in Gujarat and to offer high-speed connectivity, the rural expansion project covers 15 districts in Gujarat, which include Gandhinagar, Bharuch, Mehsana, Surat, Banaskantha, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Botad, Bhavnagar, Anand, Morbi, Rajkot, Vadodara, Patan and Sabarkantha impacting more than 50 lakh population across these districts.

The company said they have been running this rural expansion project nationally and will augment network connectivity across 60,000 villages in the country by 2024. Gujarat has been one of the big focus markets for them, and with this initiative, the company will augment its network coverage across 7,000 villages in the entire state.

On April 1, 2024, Bharti Airtel informed the exchanges that they had deployed additional sites in Kannur and Kasaragod districts to densify their network. The network enhancement project was undertaken across 31 towns and 218 villages, covering an 11.7 lakh population base. This was followed by deploying additional sites in the South Twenty-Four Parganas district in West Bengal on April 2.

On April 3, 2024, the Bharti Airtel share price opened at ₹800.00, touching the day’s high at ₹816.15, as of 12:49 PM on the NSE.
