On April 30, 2024, Bharti Airtel informed the stock exchanges that it had deployed additional sites in Morbi and Rajkot districts to densify its network.

The network expansion project in Rajkot and Morbi was undertaken across 249 villages covering a 4.65 lakh population base. Customers in the tehsils of Morbi, Rajkot, Jasdan, Lodhika, Gondal, Wankaner, Tankara and Jetpur will directly benefit from this network expansion. The expansion will offer high-speed connectivity for various purposes, such as study, entertainment and work in rural parts of Morbi and Rajkot.

Notably, in 2024, Airtel doubled its commitment to the state and invested additional capital expenditure in improving its network connectivity for a seamless experience on 4G, 5G, Broadband and Fiber.

The rural expansion project covers 15 districts of Gujarat to expand coverage in rural villages and offer high-speed connectivity to customers. These districts include Gandhinagar, Bharuch, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhavnagar, Kheda, Anand, Botad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Morbi, Patan, and Sabarkantha, which impact more than 50 lakh people.

Airtel has been running this rural expansion project in India and will enrich network

connectivity across 60,000 villages in the country by 2024. Gujarat has been one of the big focus markets for the company, and with this initiative, the company will expand its network coverage across 7,000 villages in the entire state.

Airtel, one of the leading telecom providers in India, aims to improve the network capacity and provide services deeper into rural and unconnected areas. Airtel has also enhanced its fibre presence in the state by deploying additional capacities. The addition of fresh fibre capacity will support the growth of demand for high-speed data services in this region. Airtel’s network umbrella in the region now covers all key urban, semi-urban and rural areas, including highways, tourist destinations and trade centres.
