Banks in Bihar and Meghalaya will remain closed on Thursday, November 6, 2025, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) regional holiday calendar for FY2025-26. The closures are due to two different regional events, the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections and the Nongkrem Dance festival in Meghalaya.
The state of Bihar will witness the first phase of its Legislative Assembly elections on November 6, 2025. Polling for 121 constituencies will take place on this day, while the second phase of elections, covering 122 seats, is scheduled for November 11. The counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on November 14. Due to the polling process, banks in Bihar will remain closed to facilitate election activities and ensure smooth conduct of voting.
In Meghalaya, banks will remain closed on November 6 to mark the Nongkrem Dance festival. This five-day traditional celebration is observed by the Khasi tribe to express gratitude to Goddess Ka Blei Synshar for a good harvest and community prosperity. The festival holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for the local population, and public offices, including banks, remain shut to allow participation in the festivities.
According to the RBI calendar, banks in Meghalaya will also remain closed on November 7 for the Wangala festival, marking two consecutive holidays. Across India, banks will have five holidays in November 2025, excluding weekends, for occasions such as Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartika Purnima.
