The Matri Pitri Vandana scheme is a special initiative by the Assam government, granting its employees two days of special casual leave to spend time with their parents and in-laws.
According to the official notification issued by the Government of Assam, employees can avail the Matri Pitri Vandana special casual leave on November 14 (Friday) and November 15 (Saturday), 2025.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will operate as usual on Friday, November 14, 2025. The Matri Pitri Vandana holiday applies only to Assam state government employees and is not recognised as a trading holiday by either exchange.
All segments — equity, derivatives, and commodities — will follow regular market hours. Investors can proceed with normal trading and settlement activities. For reference, the complete list of market holidays is available on the NSE holiday calendar 2025.
While November 14 and 15 are designated as special leave days for Assam government employees, they are not official public holidays. Therefore, banks across India, including those in Assam, are expected to remain open.
Customers can continue using ATMs, mobile banking, and online banking services as usual.
Matri Pitri Vandana scheme aims to encourage government staff to reconnect with their families and strengthen intergenerational bonds. The initiative is viewed as part of a broader effort to promote work-life balance among public servants.
Under the scheme, the Governor of Assam has authorised all state government employees to avail themselves of these two special leave days in November each year, subject to the guidelines provided on the state’s dedicated online portal.

The BSE, NSE, and banks across India will remain open and functional on November 14, 2025. Business and trading activities are expected to continue as usual.
