LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. Ltd., a major Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer, has entered into a significant supply agreement with Inox Solar of India, valued at ₹7,000 crore, as per The Economic Times. The deal aligns with India’s push toward domestic solar manufacturing and enhances Inox Solar’s project pipeline across the country.
Inox Solar, a part of the INOXGFL Group, has secured a contract from LONGi Green Energy for the supply of 5 GW of solar modules over a 3-year period. The modules are intended for deployment in India, boosting local content and meeting domestic sourcing stipulations. The deal will see LONGi providing manufacturing support and global-standard quality assurance, reinforcing Inox Solar’s production capabilities.
To fulfil this growing demand, Inox Solar has initiated operations at its solar module facility in Bavla, near Ahmedabad. The plant currently has a 1.2 GW capacity in the first phase, set to be expanded to 3 GW. Additionally, the company is developing an integrated cell and module plant in Dhenkanal, Odisha, with a planned capacity of 4.8 GW.

This partnership comes in the backdrop of India’s policy initiatives promoting indigenous solar equipment manufacturing. Key policy mechanisms like mandatory sourcing from approved vendors and duties on imported modules have accelerated local production. India’s module capacity has surpassed 100 GW, with cell manufacturing projected to reach 40 GW by March 2026.
The ₹7,000 crore agreement between LONGi Green Energy and Inox Solar marks a major stride in India’s renewable journey. It supports Make in India goals, expands manufacturing capabilities, and signifies global confidence in Indian clean energy ventures.
