The Haryana government has announced a festive windfall for sugarcane farmers ahead of Diwali, unveiling the highest crop rates in the country. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared that the move reflects the state’s commitment to uplifting farmer incomes while strengthening Haryana’s agricultural backbone.
Under the new rates, early variety sugarcane will now fetch ₹415 per quintal, up from ₹400, while late varieties will rise to ₹408 per quintal from ₹393. The hike marks a significant increase in the State Advised Price (SAP), reinforcing Haryana’s position as the frontrunner in providing the most remunerative rates to farmers across India.
As per the news reports, officials described the announcement as a “Diwali gift” for the state’s sugarcane growers, a symbolic step recognising their tireless efforts and contribution to the rural economy.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini called the decision a landmark move, stating, “The decision is not only in the interest of farmers but will also give new momentum to the state’s agricultural economy.”
He reiterated that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of the farming community, adding, “By offering the highest support price for sugarcane in the country, we are striving to bring prosperity and happiness to their lives.” The administration emphasised that this step aims to ensure both short-term financial relief and long-term economic stability for cultivators.
With this price hike, Haryana has set a new benchmark for farmer-focused policies. The government believes that the increase will not only improve farmers’ income but also strengthen the state’s position as a leader in agricultural reforms. Officials said the decision will serve as an example for other states to emulate and will make this year’s Diwali “brighter and sweeter” for thousands of sugarcane farmers across the region.
