Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a 1 GW artificial intelligence (AI) data centre. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed during the CII Partnership Summit 2025held in Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh, and RIL Executive Director P.M.S. Prasad.
The upcoming AI facility will operate as a twin to Reliance’s gigawatt-scale AI data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. It will be designed as a modular data infrastructure equipped with GPUs, TPUs, and AI processors to support high-end computing needs. The project is to create one of the largest AI infrastructure networks in Asia.
To power the data centre, RIL will also set up a 6 GWp solar power project in Andhra Pradesh. The company stated that this will supply clean and stable energy to support its technology infrastructure. The focus will be on ensuring reliable power for continuous operations while aligning with renewable energy goals.
Reliance has a long-standing presence in Andhra Pradesh, with total investments exceeding $25 billion across its oil and gas, digital services, and retail businesses. The company’s latest projects are part of its plan to expand its presence in the state’s industrial and digital sectors.
RIL has also announced a greenfield integrated food park in Kurnool, spread across 170 acres allotted by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). The facility will include automated production lines for beverages, packaged drinking water, chocolates, snacks, and flour products. It is expected to generate several thousand direct and indirect jobs.
The company is developing integrated compressed biogas (CBG) hubs to promote natural farming and rural employment. Construction of the first CBG plant in Prakasam district began earlier this year.
