ACME Solar Holdings Limited announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, ACME Greentech Eighth Private Limited, has received regulatory approval from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), New Delhi, to engage in inter-state electricity trading across India.

This development marks a strategic milestone for the company in expanding its presence in India’s renewable energy and power trading sector.

ACME Solar’s Arm Granted Category IV Trading Licence

On October 30, 2025, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission granted ACME Greentech Eighth Private Limited a “Category IV” trading licence under the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003. This licence authorises the company to trade electricity across India, enabling it to buy and sell power through licensed mechanisms regulated by the CERC.

The approval was granted under Sections 14 and 15(1) of the Act, read with Regulation 6 of the CERC (Procedure, Terms and Conditions for grant of trading licence and other related matters) Regulations, 2020.

Licence Validity and Strategic Impact

The Category IV licence comes into effect from the date of issuance and remains valid for 25 years, unless revoked earlier. This authorisation allows ACME Greentech to participate in power trading activities, generating revenue through trading margins, the difference between buying and selling electricity prices. This move strengthens ACME Solar’s integrated clean energy portfolio, supporting India’s transition to a sustainable energy future.
