The Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, has announced a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 60 days’ salary for the financial year 2024-25, to be released before Diwali 2025. This bonus aims to reward employees for their hard work and provide financial relief during the festive season.

Who Will Benefit?

The bonus will be available to:

  • Regular employees: Group C, Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and non-gazetted Group B
  • Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) employed on a regular basis
  • Temporary and full-time casual workers

Employees who have resigned, retired, transferred, or proceeded on deputation after March 31, 2025, whether within or outside the Department of Posts, will also be entitled to a proportionate bonus.

How the Bonus is Calculated

  • Regular employees: Bonus = Average salary × 60 ÷ 30.4 days. The salary considered is capped at ₹7,000 per month.
  • Gramin Dak Sevaks: Based on Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) plus dearness allowance.
  • Casual workers: Ad-hoc bonus based on a notional salary of ₹1,200.

This ensures that all eligible staff, including those in rural and temporary roles, benefit from the initiative.

Significance of the Move for Department of Post Employees

The 60-day bonus acts as a pre-Diwali gift, acknowledging the dedication of postal employees. Including Gramin Dak Sevaks and temporary workers highlights the government’s effort to recognise contributions across all levels of service.

Beyond celebration, this initiative provides financial relief, helping employees manage festive expenses while motivating them for continued productivity.

Conclusion

The Department of Posts’ decision to release the PLB ahead of Diwali is a thoughtful step that rewards employees, supports morale, and ensures that even temporary and rural staff benefit from the gesture. For many, it brings both recognition and tangible festive support.
