The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the proposed acquisition of certain shareholding in Edelweiss Asset Management Limited (EAML) and Edelweiss Trusteeship Company Limited (ETCL) by Setu AIF Trust, Konark Trust, and MMPL Trust.
The transaction involves several interconnected steps leading to the acquisition of up to 15% of the shareholding in both EAML and ETCL.
Setu AIF Trust, a Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), is one of the acquiring entities. It operates through its investment manager, MMPL. The other acquiring entities, Konark Trust and MMPL Trust, are part of the same transaction structure.
Edelweiss Asset Management Limited, incorporated in August 2007, serves as the asset management company (AMC) for Edelweiss Mutual Fund (EMF). Its functions include fund design, portfolio management, investor servicing, and compliance.
The company also offers portfolio management services (PMS) and is registered as a Fund Management Entity (FME) with the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) at GIFT City. Edelweiss Trusteeship Company Limited, incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956, acts as the trustee for Edelweiss Mutual Fund.
