
AXISCADES Technologies Ltd., a leading Indian defence technology company, has entered into a strategic partnership with French laser expert Cilas S.A. to introduce cutting-edge laser-based Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) technology to India.
The agreement marks a major milestone in Indo-French defence cooperation and aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision for indigenous defence production.
Signed on October 31, 2025, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AXISCADES and Cilas aims to co-develop and integrate the high-energy laser weapon system Helma-P for deployment by Indian forces.
Under the partnership, AXISCADES will design the overall system architecture tailored to the Indian Army’s operational needs, incorporating the Helma-P laser into its advanced command and control system. The collaboration seeks to deliver a vehicle-mounted C-UAS solution capable of neutralising hostile drones effectively.
Dr Sampath Ravinarayanan, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of AXISCADES, highlighted that the Helma-P system has been successfully deployed by NATO, the French Navy, and during the Paris Olympic Games.
He stressed the importance of integrating this proven technology into Indian-made platforms to strengthen India’s defence capabilities. AXISCADES also plans to localise maintenance equipment and participate in Helma-P manufacturing to ensure sustainable production within India.
