Indian equity benchmarks closed in the green on Wednesday. The BSE Sensex ended at 81,596.63, up 410.19 points (0.51%), while the NSE Nifty 50 settled at 24,813.45, gaining 129.55 points (0.52%).
As of 8:30 AM on Thursday, May 22, Gift Nifty was marginally lower by 0.01% at 24,759, down just 3.50 points, suggesting a muted start for the trading session.

InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, India's largest airline by market share, posted a robust set of numbers for Q4. Net profit soared to ₹3,067.5 crore, well above estimates and up from ₹1,894.8 crore a year earlier. Revenue grew by 24% year-on-year to ₹22,152 crore, beating street expectations.
Colgate-Palmolive reported a subdued Q4 with net profit falling 6.5% YoY to ₹355 crore, missing analyst projections. Revenue declined 1.9% YoY to ₹1,462.5 crore, falling short of estimates as well.
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd saw its net profit dip by 4% YoY to ₹459 crore in Q4FY25, down from ₹478.4 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations also declined 4.3% to ₹6,426.9 crore, indicating a moderate performance.
National Aluminium Company (Nalco) reported a significant jump in profitability. Net profit nearly doubled to ₹2,067.23 crore for Q4FY25, compared to ₹996.7 crore last year. Revenue surged 47.2% YoY to ₹5,267.8 crore, driven by robust operational performance.
Oil India posted a 22% YoY decline in Q4 net profit, which came in at ₹1,591.5 crore. Revenue remained largely flat at ₹5,518.8 crore. For the full FY25, PAT rose 10.13% YoY to ₹6,114.19 crore.
Mankind Pharma saw its Q4FY25 net profit decline 10.7% YoY to ₹420.8 crore. However, revenue grew strongly by 27.1% to ₹3,079.4 crore, supported by momentum in chronic therapies, consumer healthcare, and the addition of BSV.
HG Infra Engineering reported a sharp fall in quarterly results. Net profit slumped 22.6% YoY to ₹147 crore, while revenue declined 20.3% YoY to ₹1,360.9 crore, suggesting a slowdown in project execution.
IRCON continues to remain in focus following recent order wins. Market participants are watching for follow-through action after the announcement of key infrastructure projects.
A mix of strong earnings, strategic deals, and operational updates across sectors like aviation, infrastructure, pharma, and oil & gas could steer market sentiment today. Stock-specific action is expected to be driven by earnings performance and investor sentiment around key sectors.
