The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users to enhance convenience and improve customer experience. As per the revised guidelines issued by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), FASTag services will not be discontinued for non-compliant vehicles immediately, and users will have sufficient time to complete the KYV process.

Simplified Documentation and Auto Data Fetching

Under the updated KYV rules, users no longer need to upload side photographs of their vehicles. Only a front image showing the number plate and FASTag is required. The system has been upgraded to automatically retrieve vehicle registration details from the Vahan database once the user enters their Vehicle Number, Chassis Number, or Mobile Number.

In cases where multiple vehicles are registered under a single mobile number, users can now easily select the specific vehicle for which they wish to complete the KYV process.

Continued Services and User Support

FASTags issued before the new KYV policy will remain active unless there are reports of loose tags or misuse. Issuer banks will also send SMS reminders prompting users to complete the KYV process.

If users face difficulties in uploading documents, issuing banks are instructed to proactively assist them before deactivating the service. Customers can also contact the National Highway Helpline Number 1033 for help with KYV-related issues.

Conclusion

This initiative underscores NHAI’s commitment to improving user convenience and strengthening the FASTag ecosystem. By simplifying the KYV process and ensuring proactive customer support, NHAI aims to provide a seamless and efficient toll experience for highway users across India.
