The Ministry of Heavy Industries has introduced the Automotive Mission Plan 2047 (AMP 2047), a forward-thinking initiative to establish India as a leader in global automotive manufacturing and trade. Aligned with the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision, it lays down structured goals across decades.
AMP 2047 is a strategic vision to position India prominently in the global auto sector. The plan builds on previous missions and prioritises innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness. Seven expert-led Sub-Committees will set developmental targets for 2030, 2037, and 2047, ensuring the road to transformation is systematic and inclusive. This effort involves coordination among ministries like Power, Commerce, Roads, and Environment alongside industry leaders and academic institutions.
AMP 2047 is designed as an industry-led strategy involving Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), component makers, policy planners, R&D agencies, and users. The first Sub-Committee meeting emphasised collaboration over competition, with a focus on innovation-driven exports and advancing technologies, including electric mobility and charging infrastructure.
Milestones will be tracked in three major phases across 2030, 2037, and 2047. Technological evolution, global trade share increment, and sustainable practices form key benchmarks. The plan is not limited to specific technologies but supports an ecosystem where India’s automotive exports and capabilities expand globally through quality and innovation.

The Ministry will collate Sub-Committee findings and strategise policy support accordingly.
AMP 2047 sets a comprehensive path to elevate India’s global automotive standing. Through public-private partnerships, defined milestones, and a focus on innovation and sustainability, it presents a cohesive vision for the nation’s automotive future till 2047.
