SBI Life Insurance reported a net profit of ₹594 crore for Q1FY26, marking a 14% increase from ₹520 crore in the same period last year. However, the profit was down 27% compared to the ₹814 crore posted in Q4FY25.
The total net premium revenue for the quarter was ₹17,178 crore, up 14% YoY. This included a renewal premium of ₹10,546 crore, which grew 23% YoY but declined 28% from Q4. First-year premium stood at ₹35,390 crore, up from ₹31,460 crore last year, but down from ₹48,590 crore in Q4.
New Business Premium (NBP) rose 3% to ₹7,270 crore, and Gross Written Premium (GWP) was ₹17,810 crore, reflecting a 14% YoY growth.
Assets under Management (AUM) reached ₹4.8 lakh crore, rising 15% YoY. The Value of New Business (VoNB) grew 12% YoY to ₹1,090 crore.
The company highlighted a shift in customer preference toward protection and guaranteed non-par savings products. It also noted better persistence ratios, indicating stronger customer retention.
MD & CEO Amit Jhingran said the company saw a favourable change in its product mix and rising customer interest in financial protection. He added that the improvement in persistency and renewal premium signals stronger customer relationships.

The quarterly dividend amount stands at ₹0.83 per share.
SBI Life posted a steady performance in Q1FY26 with healthy year-on-year growth in profit, premium, and AUM. However, quarterly profit fell due to seasonality. The company’s strategic focus on protection products and improved customer retention are likely to support future growth.
