Nxtra by Airtel has expanded its renewable energy commitment through a strategic partnership with AMPIN Energy Transition. This collaboration reinforces the company's position as India's leader in sustainable data centre solutions while advancing its Net Zero commitment aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative.
On July 28, 2025, Nxtra by Airtel announced a new power wheeling agreement with AMPIN Energy Transition involving 125.65 MW of solar wind hybrid energy through Inter State Transmission System-connected plants. This additional capacity will be delivered in 2 phases through captive solar wind power projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka, respectively. The partnership now crosses over 200 MW of total renewable energy collaboration between the companies.
The additional green power supply of 205,167 MWh will enable low carbon computing and reduce Nxtra emissions by approximately 149,156 tCO2e annually, supporting the company's sustainable data centre operations.
AMPIN Energy Transition has been supplying solar power to Nxtra through intra-state open access in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha. With this new agreement, AMPIN will add 11 new states as well as new technologies including large scale ISTS renewable energy supply and seamless renewable energy provision from a single Independent Power Producer.
This expansion demonstrates the scalability of their renewable energy solutions across diverse geographical locations.

He highlighted that powering digital infrastructure with over 200 MW of renewable energy through the AMPIN partnership sets new industry standards. The achievement showcases leadership in using ISTS backed clean energy to power facilities sustainably while boosting reliability and ensuring tangible climate impact.
