On July 16, 2025, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the launch of the “Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana” (PM-DDKY), a first-of-its-kind, agriculture-focused initiative aimed at revitalising farming and allied activities across 100 districts over the next 6 years, starting from FY 2025–26.
This new scheme targets the comprehensive transformation of agricultural performance at the grassroots. For the first time, a government scheme of this scale will exclusively concentrate on agriculture and allied sectors like animal husbandry, fisheries, and agro-processing.

The scheme will be implemented through the convergence of 36 existing schemes across 11 Central Departments, alongside relevant State programs and private sector participation. This collaborative model is designed to maximise resource efficiency and community involvement.
