On April 24, 2024, Organic Recycling System Limited (ORS), a pioneering engineering firm specialising in waste valorisation and management, offering solutions to convert waste into green energy and renewable resources, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with High-Grade Farms, Inc. (HGF), a pioneering company and a leading-edge technology solutions company based in Canada, offering a patented algae wastewater treatment (AWWT) technology for sustainably treating liability wastewater to strengthen a cohesive and collaborative approach towards their shared objectives of sustainable technology development.

HGF and ORS formed a partnership because of their shared business objectives and recognition of the potential of HGF’s Integrated Technology Platform (ITP) to handle India’s wastewater concerns sustainably. In order to acquire, construct, and run an Algae Wastewater Treatment (AWWT) system as a component of the Integrated Technology Platform (ITP), a strategic partnership is outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding. This cooperative project aims to improve recycling, treat liability wastewater responsibly, and use creative methods to create high-value byproducts locally.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) highlights the significance of making well-informed decisions. It emphasises the necessity of carrying out thorough feasibility studies and pilot demonstrations in order to gather insightful information and offer vital testing grounds to verify the viability and efficacy of suggested solutions. In light of the emphasis on sustainability, ORS and HGF are dedicated to investigating prospects in international carbon credit markets to evaluate the possibility of generating income from the sale of carbon credits produced by the projects, thereby strengthening their motivation to practise environmental stewardship.

In addition, the Memorandum of Understanding strongly emphasises the creation of all-encompassing marketing strategies to advertise and market sustainable solutions while optimising gains for all parties.

This strategy uses an algal culture-based technique to clean wastewater in an effort to provide a long-term solution. This would produce clean water and algal biomass for a variety of uses, opening up new avenues for generating income. The technology being developed and tested in tandem will open up the possibility of implementing wastewater treatment solutions for communities and industries based on containerised photobioreactors.
