Looking to invest in the US markets? Here's a quick checklist. Firstly, you need to open an overseas trading account. You can open your account with an Indian broker or an American broker. Secondly, you need to take care of the Forex formalities. To invest in American stocks, you need to buy US dollars using Indian rupees. Here is where the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme is relevant. As per the LRS, any resident individual is allowed to remit up to 2.5 lakh US dollars.
