The stock markets are home to different types of buyers and sellers. Let’s take a look at 5 common types of traders in the market. First, we have day traders, who buy and sell securities several times daily. They carry no open positions to the next day and take no overnight risk. Next, we have swing traders, who attempt to profit from market swings and trends. They tend to hold positions spanning from a few days to a few weeks. Then, there are technical traders who buy or sell securities based on historical price trends. By contrast, fundamental traders look at the value of a security before buying or selling it. They tend to buy undervalued securities and sell overvalued securities. Lastly, we have long-term traders, who are also known as investors.
