Primarily, there are two ways you can invest in the debt market in India. One way to go about this is to invest in debt instruments directly. This means you can invest in government securities like government bonds and treasury bills. Or, you could invest in corporate bonds, issued by private and public companies. You could also invest directly in the debt market by opening a fixed deposit with a bank. The second way to invest in debt is to take the mutual fund route, with debt funds.
