First on this list is the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana. Launched on January 22, 2015, the program’s main goal was to address the declining Child Sex Ratio. Today, the program also covers areas like education, survival, and protection of the girl child. The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is another government-backed scheme for women empowerment. It helps parents of girl children save up for their daughters’ future. The savings account under this scheme has a maturity period of 21 years And offers interest at the rate of 7.6% per annum. The STEP Scheme - or the Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women - is another excellent program for women empowerment. It aims to help women acquire the skills to become employable or entrepreneurs In sectors like agriculture, food processing, handlooms, IT and more.
